Pastor’s December Message

Dear Friends and Family of HBC,

Well, here we are again, the season of Advent! Doesn’t it seem like we were just here a few months ago? This is the time of year when we wait and prepare for the coming of the Christ child. Although the Christian Church recognizes this the season of Advent, while the season of Christmas doesn’t really begin until December 25th, most people look at late November and the entirety of December as the Christmas season.

Andy Williams reminds us every December that “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year”. And it is true that Christmas is indeed a wonderful time of year. There is nothing quite like this season; the sights, the sounds, the smells, the nostalgia and the anticipation.

Yet none of this would exist if not for the reason for the season. What makes this season truly wonderful is the birth of Jesus; Immanuel, God with us. His birth reminds us that we matter to the One who is worshipped by angels and created both the heavens and the earth.

For the month of December, we will ponder “The Wonder of Christmas”. Each Sunday we will give consideration to something that truly makes this the most wonderful time of the year.

By the way, did you know many people are more receptive to attending church during this season than any other time of year? Perhaps you might want to consider asking a friend to join you one week? You could be the “angel” that points someone else to the Christ child.

Be Still,

Dan
