This I Believe
Dear friends and family of Hilton Baptist Church,
This past Fall we spent several weeks considering the topic of “Changes and Challenges”. Knowing that changes and challenges come into all our lives, how do we address them with faith and wisdom? How do we as a church, as brothers and sisters in Christ, address the changes and challenges that take place in our community of faith? These were some of the questions we tried to answer and I hope they will be beneficial as we move forward into the year 2020.
Now that we know changes and challenges will come to all of us, what is it that will keep us firmly grounded in the faith we have? As believers, it is our belief in God, our trust in Jesus Christ and our reliance on the Spirit that keeps us grounded and focused.
A.W. Tozer once said “What comes to mind when we think about God is the most important thing about us”. I think there is some truth in that and deserves some more thought and consideration.
To help us strengthen our faith, to help us start off the New Year and to build on what we learned last Fall we will be starting a new series called “This I Believe”. Throughout January and February, we will be considering the ancient Apostles Creed. This creed has helped to solidify the faith in believers throughout the years.
It is my hope it will give both you personally, and us as a church, solid ground on which to stand when facing changes and challenges in the year to come. May “2020” be a year when our vision is clear, our focus is sharp and our faith is strong!
